Winnipeg, MB – NDP MLA James Allum has endorsed Wab Kinew for leader of the Manitoba NDP. Allum is the MLA for Fort-Garry Riverview, a former Minister of Justice and Attorney General, a former Minister of Education and Advanced Learning, as well as a former President of the Manitoba NDP.
“Manitobans are counting on our party to offer a strong alternative to Brian Pallister’s reckless cuts and austerity,” said Allum. “I am convinced Wab Kinew is the leader we need now and for the future. Wab represents generational change and renewal. He is generating excitement and attracting new members, and I am proud to add my name to the list of New Democrats supporting Wab for leader.”
Allum reminded New Democrats that the deadline to buy or renew memberships in order to vote in the leadership contest is June 18, just over a week away.
“Jamie is a tenacious fighter for New Democratic values, like robust environmental protections and supportive public services,” said Kinew. “He is a strong leader in our party. I am thrilled to accept his support.”
